THE BEAT GOES ON: ArtWallah Fall Benefit Party

LOS ANGELES, CA – ArtWallah organizers and supporters celebrate four
years of a growing South Asian arts movement and prepare for their
annual diasporic arts festival scheduled for June 26-29, 2003 at The
Village at Ed Gould Plaza in Hollywood. The festival's impact
stretches beyond the South Asian community to all progressive,
artistic communities and continues to attract diverse audiences and
artists across the globe.

ArtWallah announces a call for works for the June festival and is
hosting a benefit party this Thursday, November 14th at Fais Do Do in
Los Angeles featuring live music coupled with South Asian DJ beats.

In the ArtWallah tradition of showcasing raw talent, Benefit Party
attendees will follow the flow of artistic expression as the DJ spins
and local musicians overlay his grooves with their sultry rhythms. In
a jam session, including vocalists, percussionists, brass players,
and guitarists intermingling with South Asian underground and hip hop
beats, even the most wallflower-shy of us all will begin to sway.
Performances at the November 14th event will include the sweet,
throaty sounds of vocalist, Soniya Brar and lively percussive beats
from brother-sister dhol-duo, Dhol Nation, and Karmacy drummer Sim
Grewal. Los Angeles-based DJ Sandeep Kumar will be spinning hip-hop,
house, and South Asian underground throughout the night.

The festival kick-off would not be complete without a call for works.
ArtWallah, Arts Festival of the South Asian Diaspora, is currently
seeking innovative and original work for its fourth annual event.
Established and emerging artists and artist-activists, both local and
international, are invited to submit work that address political,
cultural or personal celebrations/struggles. All submissions must be
postmarked by February 15, 2003. For more information please visit
