FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
South Asian Arts Festival Planned for April 26-28 at The Village
January 17, 2002, LOS ANGELES -- Organizers of the third annual ArtWallah
Festival of South Asian Arts this week announced that ArtWallah 2002
will be held April 26-28 at The Village arts and cultural complex in
Hollywood.
In past years the ArtWallah festival has taken place at the ArtShare
industrial warehouse space in the downtown Los Angeles Artists' District.
After two years of sold-out performances in ArtShare's 100-seat theater,
organizers chose to move the festival to a larger venue. “The
overwhelming response ArtWallah has received in the last two years made
it a priority for us to find a venue that would give more members of
the community the opportunity to attend,” said Shilpa Agarwal,
ArtWallah 2002 festival co-administrator. “The Village allows
us to expand our theater events and provides a superb gallery space,”
added festival co-administrator Ranjit Mathoda.
The festival is accepting submissions until February 15 from artists
both locally and internationally with innovative works that express
the personal, political, and cultural celebrations or struggles of the
South Asian diaspora. More information on submitting is available at
www.artwallah.org or via email (info@artwallah.org).
